The critical requirement for social and religious change that started to show itself from the early many years of the nineteenth century emerged in light of the contact with Western culture and instruction. The shortcoming and rot of Indian culture were obvious to instructed Indians who began to work deliberately for their evacuation. 

 

They were never again eager to acknowledge the conventions, convictions, and practices of Hindu society just in light of the fact that they had been watched for centuries. In 1814, Rammohan Roy settled in Calcutta and committed his life to the reason for social and religious change. As a social reformer, Rammohan Roy battled perseveringly against social disasters like sati, polygamy, youngster marriage, female child murder, and standing separation. He composed a development against the cruel custom of sati and caused William Bentinck to pass a law restricting the training (1829). It was the principal fruitful social development against a well established social underhandedness. 

 

In 1814, Rammohan Roy settled in Calcutta and devoted his life to the reason for social and religious change. As a social reformer, Rammohan Roy battled perseveringly against social indecencies like sati, polygamy, kid marriage, female child murder, and standing segregation. He sorted out a development against the barbaric custom of sati and encouraged William Bentinck to pass a law prohibiting the training (1829). It was the principal effective social development against a well established social malice.
