Since lockdown has been imposed by the government in our country, India, violence against women has taken a rapid rise than ever before. In India, 70% of women are the victim of domestic violence, and 38% of men admit that they have abused their partners. In a report, 40% of women have admitted that they face sexual/physical violence not from their partners but other men, while 72% of women have admitted that they face sexual/physical assault by their own partners.

Women who face violence from their own partners face deeper mental trauma which might also lead to depression and some women also commit suicide. It is reported that half of the death of women in India is because of harassment, Molestation, violence, sexual assault, and other women related to violence. Throwing light on the news about women who have faced assault during this pandemic is more than that is reported in the last ten years. There are many instances to prove so: A 26-year-old man who sold flowkers in the temple was arrested on Thursday for raping and murdering a seven-year-old Dalit girl at Aranthangi in Pudukkottai district.

The Odisha Police on Wednesday arrested the former inspector in charge of a police station in Sundargarh district for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl. A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two local youths in Mainpuri on Saturday. These are some of the instances happening in our country and people are least bothered about it. When we witness someone getting abused or facing violence, we usually ignore saying that it is their family's matter. We have accepted this behavior of men as new normal. Violence can never be justified Whether it is done against a woman or a man, violence is a heinous crime. We need to stand up for these women around us and help them. We are creating a hell as a society by not speaking about it. Let's hold each other's hands and create a better place for everyone, it's sad that we need to understand this by reading an article or news.
