The French World Cup winner’s maiden goal for the club proved to be the synergist for Spanish Champions

Antoine Griezmann emphatic double strikes against Real Betis allow Barcelona to go back to winning ways on Sunday with a storyline of 5-2 in their second La Liga match. Barcelona surely rebounded in style after a surprising loss in their opener against the Athletic Bilbao last week on Sunday. Strikes from Jordi Alba, Carlos Perez, and Arturo Vidal completed the scorecard and marked a commendable day as the Catalonian club celebrates the defender Gerard Pique’s 500th club appearance.

Barca who was without their prodigy figure Lionel Messi fell right at the start of the game when Nabir Fekir scored an audacious angled strike at the 15th minute. Griezmann, the ex-Atletico Madrid player made the scoreline equal with a strike just four minutes before the halftime. That strike from Antoine proved to be the catalyst for the club as they went on to score 4 more goals in a 27-minute spell.

After the match, Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde told the reporters, “I was pleased with how we did in the first half, but when you go behind you always think that there's stuff to change,

“We needed a goal to make the scoreline 1-1 and exactly we did that and it changes the course for the better. We might have also got a second one before the half time. It was a high tempo game and we liked it that way”

“He further added that it was an important day for us given the absentees we have”

He admitted it was an important game for him given the absentees we had,” Valverde said.

“He responded brilliantly. He dropped down from his forward position to help us in midfield and pushed one losing his man smartly”

“For us, it's fundamental to have players who can clock up goals and the fact Griezmann debuted at the Camp Nou and scored is great news.”
