Ban on 101 Import Defence Items is a Step Towards Self Reliant India

Rajnath Singh, defence Minister of India announced on August 9, 2020, that they have decided to ban 101 import defence items. This step has been taken to boost defence production in India. He added that India is ready to be self-dependent or Atma nirbhar as initiated by Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi. This step of India has been appreciated and will act as a stepping stone to self-reliant India. This announcement clearly depicts that India is moving towards development and upgrading its technologies which will be proven effective in the long term. An embargo on defence items depicts that India will never succumb and will become self-dependent.
These are some of the defence items which have been put under embargo- Sniper rifle, tracked self-propelled (SP) Gun, Towed Artillery Gun, Short Range Surface to Air Missiles (Land Variant), Simulators Presenting Smart Ranges and Multi-Function Targets, Battalion Support Weapon Simulator, Container-based Simulators for Live Fire Training, Force-on-Force Tactical Stimulators / Infantry Weapon, Tank stimulator (driving as well as crew gunnery), Successor of Flycatcher & Upgraded Super Fledermaus (USFM)/ Air Defence Fire Control Radar (ADFCR), Component level Repair Facility for Tank T-90, Shipborne Close-in Weapon System, Bullet Proof Jackets, Ballistic Helmets, Missile Destroyers, Multi-Purpose Vessel, Offshore Patrol Vessel, Next-generation Missile Vessels, Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Crafts, Water Jet Fast Attack Craft, Torpedo Tube Launcher, Shipborne Sonar System for large ships, Radar Warning Receiver(RWR) for Transport Aircraft along with other 76 defence items.
