Tamil Nadu Neyveli Boiler Blast: 6 Dead 17 Injured | Thermal Power Station | Latest News Updates

In Tamil Nadu Neyveli Lignite Power Plant at least 6 people were killed and 17 were injured during the boiler blast at the thermal power station on Wednesday. The blast occurred in the fifth unit of the second station as workers were resuming work in the morning.
According to the police officials, the blast occurred at around 10 am where 6 people died and 17 got injured who have been admitted to NLCIL General Hospital in Neyveli. An official told news agency PTI, “Some workers are feared trapped,” due to the explosion.
Neyveli is a township in Cuddalore district which is about 200 kilometers south of Chennai. The recent Wednesday’s blast is the second in two months. On May 7, two workers were killed and eight injured in a similar incident. Thus, it becomes more serious than how incidents are going on despite the same earlier happenings.
Over the incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said he was anguished to learn about the incident. He said he had spoken to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and assured help. He also said the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had been deployed to the site of the blast to assist in relief work.
