Another day saw another record made by the opening batsman of India, Rohit Sharma. He became the record holder for the most number of centuries in a calendar year by any batsman across the globe. After a thrashing from the Caribbeans at the first One Day International match between India and West Indies which was played at Ma Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, the Indian team had needed a solid come back in the series. The match was played in Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium, Pothinamallayya. The match was a do or die one for the Blues, to keep the series in a stable position and the team had decided to play Shardul Thakur along with Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami. The toss was won by the West Indies captain Kieron Pollard and he led the India team bat first. The two openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put up a solid start and they made a partnership of massive 227 runs. While KL Rahul lost his wicket to Alzarri Joseph at a score of 102, Rohit continued. His knock of 159 runs from,138 deliveries laid the foundation for the Indian team.

His innings included of 17 boundaries and 5 over- boundaries. Although Virat failed to add any run to his name, the job was done by Shreyas Iyer and Risabh Pant. The duo added 73 runs from 24 deliveries and India was able to give a massive target of 387 to the West Indian batsman. Then the work of defending this target was on the bowlers. The blowers showed up their class and wickets fell in quick succession. The fast bowling department bagged 4 wickets, with Shami getting the 3 of them.

The spin department was phenomenal and got 5 wickets including the spectacular hat trick from Kuldip Yadav. A brilliant throw from Shreyas Iyer showed Hetmyer the way to pavilion. Besides winning the match and leveling to 1-1, Rohit Sharma acquired the top position among the batsman with the most number of centuries in a single calendar year, leaving Sachin Tendulkar behind him. It's now completely dependent on the last ODI, which is to be played in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on 22nd December. Today's match has shown the class of Indian batting and bowling and having Ro"HITMAN" Sharma in the team, we can look forward to win the series.
